Raimondas Lencevicius
Raimondas Lencevicius is currently Senior Research Scientist at Microsoft working on automatic speech recognition, natural language processing, and large language models (LLMs).

Raimondas worked as a Principal Research Engineer at Nuance until it was acquired by Microsoft. In 2009-2010, Raimondas developed web data collection and semantic relationship extraction toolset using NLP techniques at Qwobl - a semantic search and social networking startup.

Previously, he has worked for nine years at Nokia Research Center in Cambridge and Burlington, US. There he researched web page classification for mobile advertising, user comment and idea processing for strategy and product development insights. He worked on gathering mobile phone user data, aggregating and integrating it for a backend to task-oriented natural language interaction. He also investigated composability of software components, including web services and phone data. Before that Raimondas led a program and projects analyzing resource consumption on mobile devices; developed tools and methods for performance analysis; researched power saving features for mobile phones and proposed software validation based on energy profiles.

His research has been published at ICSE, ESEC, ISSTA, and various workshops. Raimondas has been a reviewer for ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS and other conferences. Raimondas has been awarded ACM Senior Member grade in 2008.

In 1999 Raimondas Lencevicius received a Ph.D. from the Computer Science Department at UCSB for developing tools and techniques to query object relationships in OO programs. In 2000 his monograph "Advanced Debugging Methods" was published by Kluwer Academic Publishers.

Raimondas has practised Zen since 1990. He is a Senior Dharma Teacher of the Kwan Um School of Zen and served for three years on the board of Cambridge Zen Center. He led Kaunas Zen group in Lithuania in 1992-1993. Raimondas was the abbot of the Zen Sitting Group at the UCSB from 1995 to 1999.

Raimondas has a long standing interest in the martial arts. He has completed Tai Chi Teacher's Training Program and continues to practice Tai Chi with Peter Wayne at Tree of Life. In 1993-1999 Raimondas practiced at the UCSB Ki-Aikido Club attaining a rank of the 1st kyu of Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido and Chukyu Ki rank.

Raimondas has been a stock market and angel investor for about 25 years.

Raimondas and his wife Diana enjoy ballroom and modern dancing. They ocasionally read, write, and review fantasy and science fiction.
